Weekend Review: D.C. Wine Fest

I couldn’t be more thrilled to spend my Saturday tasting sweet dessert wines, sparkling seltzers and holistic spirits and the D.C. Wine Fest delivered on options and price points. The D.C. Wine Fest took place on April 14th, 2024 at Dock 5 at Union Market. The D.C. Wine Fest featured three different start times for tasting and sampling the available options, but the varying timed entry points did not help with crowd control. The lack of crowd control and poor use of the space made the event difficult to navigate without craning my neck. What event lacked in crowd control the event made up for with a wide selection of wines and spirits. I purchased the Dragonfruit and Raspberry wine from Mark and Val Wines and carbonated Moscato imported from Australia. I have a preference for sweet wines and I enjoyed both as they offered a reprieve from the D.C. heat.

In addition to the wine and spirit production companies, there was a winery tour company promoting vineyard tours in Virginia. I did not have the chance to speak with the representative of the company, but I was able to take home a promotional flyer. Vineyard Voyages starts the 2024 tour season May 18th, 2024. Per the promotional materials the company offers pickup from the West Falls Church Metro Station and will provide transportation to three wineries in Loudoun County and will return participants back to the West Falls Church Metro Station in the early evening. Vineyard Voyages is definitely on my list for a fun summer day trip to escape the hustle and bustle of D.C. To book a tour or to find out more about Vineyard Voyages http://www.vineyardvoyages.com.
